FA211(A) Question

According to Casualties of the German Air Service by Franks, Bailey and Duiven a Lt. (d.R.) Ochs was wounded on September 30, 1918 whilst serving as an observer with this unit. Unfortunately no first name. Can anyone add anything to this entry?

Hello Vince,

His name is Edwin Ochs. After the war he lived in Dresden, Würzburgerstrasse 59.

Regards,

Jos

30-09-1918

Hello Vince,

A little bit more info from "Die Fliegerabteilung (A) 211 im Weltkriege" - Norbert Welkoborsky.

30-09-1918: On the orders of the General Command, the crew of Oberleutnant Ernfried Demnig von Weger /Leutnant Edwin Ochs was deployed as infantry pilots despite the rain. Through them it was established that the enemy was in possession of the eastern edge of Sancourt and the railway line to the east of it. What had never happened before happened here: our infantry made its presence known in every conceivable way when called upon. Even 2 command posts of Kampftruppenkommandeuren /combat troop commanders (KTK) displayed visual signals. During the flight over Sancourt, observer Leutnant Ochs (came from Armee Flug Park 17 on September 10, 1918) is slightly wounded at the right elbow by ground defense machine gun fire. The bad weather is being made full use of to expand the new St. Saulve airfield. Ten aircraft are ready to take off.

Hope this helps a bit......

Regards,

Jos
