Help identifying plane on postcard

I received a whole lot of postcards form my parents. One of these shows the following plane, and I'm interested in receiving more information about it. The only thing on the back is a short letter, written in German and dated 3/4/16. i.e April 3 1916. Thanks

Wow! That isn't a fighter plane for sure, I tried to search for German planes from 1914-16 in this forum and none of them look like the one in the picture
Do you by any chance can read the letters and numbers from the plane? From the Bay. name, it looks like it comes from Bayern but I'm sure! Tried my best haha
But don't worry, there are people here that know more about planes than I do

Aviation themed photographs were quite popular at the time ... and on stage equipment does not necessarily resemble real aircraft
Regards,
Yavor

Someone else where suggested the following

The first word is Ba˙. The 'y' has an an umlaut - which was used in old Dutch, German and French where it can be an alternate for 'IJ' or 'J'.

It happens that BAJ (Boncourt-Audenis-Jacob) was a French company that built pre-WWI and WWI planes

I don’t know whether this will help.

Pretty sure it is a mockup - maybe a photographer's prop or part of a float in a parade, but not intended to be a real aircraft.

Arrow Maybe...

.
... this is the only photo of the mystery "Mumpitz E.I". Don't worry, I'm sure that you'll never see or find a photo of this aircraft flying.

Dear "sralser"...

.
... could you please provide us with a high resolution scan of the "engine cover" (and what is written on it)?

It does look like some kind of prop, does not look at all like it could fly.

Arrow Well, it looks…

.
… like anaircraft, but it definitely is not a real one.

Have a look at the bracing and the extremely thin wings. The bracing is thick enough that the wings stay in place (instead of falling down or breaking). Also the struts under the wings of this "Eindecker" already seem to bend silghtly upwards under the weight of the wings.

In addtion you see no cables needed for the ailerons (or wing wrapping). And if you have a look at the landing gear you will see, that a pram would offer a better stability on rough ground. And – not to forget – do you see any engine parts (exhaust, cylinder banks, radiators, etc.)?

But the people had fun with this crate…
