Adolph Ritter von Tutschek's Last Resting Place.

I am going to start building a 1/4 scale reproduction of Adolph Ritter von Tutschek's Fokker Triplane over the (northern hemisphere) winter. I've chosen to model his aircraft because it has a very simple colour scheme, a white engine cowling and black rear fuselage; no personal markings. He was killed in aerial combat on 15th March 1918 and must have fallen behind German lines because his body was retrieved by one of his groundcrew.

Does anyone know where he was buried?

According to the site below, he was buried in the Waldfriedhof, forest cemetery, Gruenwald, Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

There are photos of von Tutschek's memorial ceremony in Marle's Eglis Notre-Dame (17 March 1918), as well as the funeral procession through the Munich streets as his coffin was brought to the Waldfriedhof Cemetery, in Lance Bronnenkant's magnificent book; also a photo of his headstone.

The Blue Max Airmen: German Airmen Awarded the Pour le Mérite (Volume 9)

If you're interested in von Tutschek, you really should get this wonderful book. It contains a detailed biography of the Bavarian ace, his victories and service record, with many rare photos of the man and his aircraft along with color profiles.

The bayerisches Armeemuseum (des Ersten Weltkriegs) in von Tutschek's birthplace of Ingolstadt has quite a display about von Tutschek, including models of his aircraft etc.

I've probably mentioned before, but the late-great Peter Grosz said that vT's sister kept a Berlin (?) apartment with his memorabilia as a tribute. Do not know-recall the timeframe.

Then The Other War descended. Some friends-relatives were bombed out and needed a place to stay. Sister allowed them in vT's space, where they disposed of nearly everything to make more room.

The pic is not that new and beautifull, but it shows the grave in Munich.
