Aircraft that did not quite produce a full top ace
Good afternoon Gentlemen,
I'm a passionate collector of top-aces-by-plane.
However, some aircraft did not manage to get included in my collection.
The following aircraft had top pilots who did not achieve 5 or more kills in that aircraft for the various reason indicated: - Albatros B.I: Otto Jindra, 4 kills as a pilot, 3 kills as a gunner
- Albatros C.III: Otto Brauneck, possibly 4 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed
- Breguet XIV: Jean Jannekeyn and Antoine Paillard, 5 or 2 kills (unclear acknowledgement)
- Bristol M.1: Frederick Travers, wrongly 5 kills
- Caudron G.4: Julien Guertiau, 4 confirmed kills and 1 unconfirmed kill and Joseph Vuillemin, 3 confirmed kills and at least 3 unconfirmed kills
- Farman F.40: Fernand Jacquet, possibly at least 2 confirmed and at least 3 unconfirmed kills
- Fokker E.II: Gustav Leffers, 4 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed, Karl Jentsch probably 2 confirmed and 3 unconfirmed kills
- Fokker D.II: Otto Brauneck, possibly 3 confirmed and 3 unconfirmed kills
- Halberstadt D.II: Manfred von Richthofen, wrongly 12 kills, Rudolf Berthold, possibly 3 confirmed and 2 unconfirmed kills
- Halberstadt D.V: Rudolf von Eschwege, possibly 5??? kills
- LVG C.V: Georg Gund, 4 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed kill
- Morane-Saulnier AI: David Putnam, 1 confirmed, 7-8 unconfirmed kills
- Nieuport 25: Charles Nungesser, possibly 5??? kills
Cheers,
Michael
