Forumites,
Like many, I have often had the dream of building a repro WWI a/c. One thing I have noticed is the proliferation of 3/4 and 7/8ths size reproduction a/c. Why is this? 7/8ths is 87.5% the size of the original, and of course 3/4ths is 75%. This seems so close to full-size/scale, why not go full-size?
There must be some issues here I am not aware of in the construction, powerplant, or something.
I have always been curious about this, but never knew who I could ask.

Thanks in advance,

WarrenD

I often wondered of that too. I mean 2 years ago I seen my first WW1 Repo a/c. It was a 7/8th scale Se5a. If it is 87.5% and the size of that plane is small lookin. Ya dont really have alot of body space in the cockpit, shoulder-wise anyways hehe. It can be 3/4,7/8th, or 4/4. Still great to see ni the air!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of it has to do with weight, available engines, and construction complexity. There are some full-sized plans, however. I know of two, at least: Graham Lee's Nieuport 17 and Robert Baslee's (sp?) Nieuport 27.

Regards,
