Did Gunther Plüschow down a Farman?

I was looking on Wikipedia about the battle of Tsingtao. It says that supposedly Gunther Plüschow downed a Japanese flown Farman MF.7 with his pistol, making it the first aerial victory. This is pretty interesting and I'm wondering if its true that he did.Is their documents and stuff to give truth to this?

I have also read somewhere in the past that he shot down a Japanese aircraft while flying against the Japanese Fleet over Tsingtao but i don,t remember what kind of weapon they said he used. I,ll see if i can come up with something.

Arrow At least he wrote something like this.

Hello!

I have a 1938 edition of his book "Die Abenteuer des Fliegers von Tsingtao" and on page 72 he wrote:

"Das nächstemal paßte ich besser auf. Und als ich einen meiner feindlichen Kollegen dicht unter mir erblickte, verfolgte ich ihn und schoß ihn mit meiner Parabellumpistole mit dreißig Schuß herunter."

Roughly translated as:

"The next time I was more attentive. And when I saw one of my hostile colleagues close below me, I followed him and shot him down with my Parabellum pistol with 30 rounds."

I don't know if this is more than an interesting Story...

Arrow Yes and no!

According to his book this must have happened somewhere between the 5. September 1914 and the 14. October 1914. At least this are the next nearby mentioned dates before and after his "victory".

But I would not bet much money on the accuracy of Plüschow's quote. It's a typical patriotic wartime story of its time, although well written.
