The New Maxford Gotha

The soon to be released Maxford Gotha! I hope that they change from film to fabric for the covering. Looks pretty nice considering it's an ARF.

Yes, this is a candidate for some type of Lozenge fabric, for sure.

As an "acute renal failure" or "advertising research foundation" it may look pretty nice, but as a scale model it seems more like an "almost retrograde failure"!

At one time, I had a similar opinion on ARF airplanes. I love to build models, also. My avatar shows a model I built from "scratch" from my own plans back in the mid 1980s. The Albatros DIII flew great and was a very fun project. I am still mostly a builder (meaning mostly not an assembler of ARFs). However, some of the ARFs I've assembled have been very fun projects, too. The fact is that ARFs are getting more and more people involved in this hobby, so the question is: Should we really put people who like/assmble/start out with ARFs in a lower class than those of us who build their airplanes from kits or scratch?

Personally, I have room for everyone who loves model airplanes! I do attempt to get them involved in building from kits as that is the next logical step in the progression and what I find to be the most fun aspect of this hobby. However, not everyone has an interest in building!

I agree with Mode One. Come one, come all I say. I wouldn't knock this model either. It's an ARF for goodness sake and it will be rather inexpensive considering the work involved in making it for us. Kudos yet again to Maxford. If I get one of these I'll be much more relaxed flying it knowing that I didn't spend a year building it.
