Bristol Scout cockpit
Hi All,
Does anyone have photos of, or can easily get to, either the Shuttleworth or Yeovilton Bristol Scout? We particularly would like some cockpit shots. There is one photo of the top of the Shuttleworth cockpit up at Flickr, but I haven't seen anything else.
Hope you can help,
shredward

Hi Shredward,
Do you mean Bristol Fighter, or Bristol M1c?---I know of no Bristol Scouts in either establishment my friend.
Cheers,
Dave.

Last time I checked the website, there was a nekkid Scout - the one built by Leo Opdycke, hanging from the rafters of Hall 4 at Yeovilton. I thought Shuttleworth still has one as well - maybe it has moved on. The Shuttleworth website has it, but it appears that it may be at the Bristol Aero collection at Kemble now.
Cheers,
shredward

I believe the Scout was never really part of Shuttleworhs collection---but you may indeed be correct-----my apologies for doubting you Shredward.
I have not been to Yeovilton for many years, so you may also be quite right about what is hanging up there
We live and learn,
Dave.

I saw the Scout at Shuttleworth almost 2 years ago when filming 'Fighting the Red Baron', but it was planned to go to the Bristol Collection at Kemble - whether it's gone or not I don't know, but it's lodging at Shuttleworth was only temporary

Bristol Scout Cockpit photos
Hi,
Here are two photos of Leo Opdycke's Bristol Scout cockpit which were taken of the aircraft shortly before its first flight. Sorry they don't show more detail.
The last image is the same as the second image, except it is cropped and brightened. Leo's Bristol is still at Yeovilton as far as I know. There is a second Bristol repro in the UK, which is covered and painted, and I recall seeing that one photographed along with some aircraft from the Shuttleworth Collection at one point, although I don't think it is part of Shuttleworth.
Best regards,
Tom Polapink

It's still there (or was a week or so ago when I last visited). It isn't part of the collection and is just lodging although it looks like its stay has been somewhat longer than originally planned. It is very much a static relica although nice to see anyway. Consequently I'm not certain how accurate the cockpit is likely to be (if indeed there's much in it at all)

Bristol Scout
Yes gentlemen,
there is a bristol scout at Shuttleworth. It is not a perfect replica and suspect not flyable but none the less worthy. I do not think the instruments are original (modern with replica faces). These pics show them to look rather good.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
Allan
