Dear 1Bruno:
The PIPE here...I'm working on a set of CAD drawings (in DesignCAD here on my home PC) for a 1/4th sized Bristol Scout C of
Lanoe Hawker, the No. 1611 example...to be powered with an RCV 120 SP 2:1 geared output four-stroke engine, which SHOULD be able to spin a scale sized 22" prop for it.
I'm wondering...did you know that there is a Windsock Datafile (No. 44) ON the Scout series??? I used it to author the English language Wikipedia page on the Scout series, specifically at
Bristol Scout - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . The No. 44 Datafile is not going to be available much longer...the main Windsock site at
WW1 AIRCRAFT - Stock DID say that only "limited stocks" of that Datafile remain.
And, as my heading indicated, way back in March and April of 1981, my old RC buddy Hank Iltzsch did up the Scout D in 1/4th scale for the
Model Aviation AMA national magazine...I was lucky enough to have witnessed MANY of the prototype model's initial flights "way back when", over a quarter century ago, and the plans for it ARE still available through the AMA at
http://www.modelaircraft.org/plans/pdfs/b-plans.pdf (get Adobe reader to view this listing!) ...the plans are NOT cheap at $56.00 US for the set, but it DOES create a MUSEUM quality aircraft, as AMA plan number 328.
The original construction article IS available for viewing and printout from the AMA Digital Archive at
Academy of Model Aeronautics - Members Only Home , and after you sign in
(you ARE an AMA member, I hope!) just do a search from their page for it at
http://www.modelaircraft.org/Members...searchform.asp , entering the words "Bristol Scout" WILL bring up Hank Iltzsch's articles on his achievement...use those printouts with his plans, which you might want to enlarge to your desired 1/3rd scale size, and with all that, and the Datafile No.44, you'd have a GREAT start to creating a biig 1/3rd scale Scout D for yourself.
Please write back via PM (personal message) or an Email...I'll be waiting to hear from you...
Yours Sincerely,
The PIPE!
