Photo Id: Kronprinz and two pilots

Hi everybody,

I just need help for this photo, showing a visit of the Kronprinz in an aerodrome in 1918. There are two pilots near by him and I just wanna have your opinion about them.

Thank you so much for that,
Sam.

Can't help on IDs but it's a great photo.
Tell me, does the cap on the pilot to the right have some stiffening taken out of it to give it that informal floppy look? It resembles the jaunty look of caps worn by US pilots (WW2) and also motorcycle cops in 1950s movies. I like it!

That's right. It gives an informal floppy look added to the leather overcoat. The kronprinz looks very relax too, seeing the way he's smoking.

G'day Marc! Your comment reminded me of the scene in the recent Red Baron Movie where Manfred takes Lothar's cap & removes the stiffening & puts it back on his head. Nearly all the Pilots shown in that movie had "floppy" caps!

The Kronprinz is wearing the visor cap of the 1. Leib-Husaren-Regiment like he always did:

About 1. Leib-Husaren-Regiment .

Sorry. So far I can not identify the other men... probably aviators in the 5th German army.. like FFA 25 etc. Non of them is Ernst Udet.

Floppy caps

Hi there
James McCudden VC having liberated a floppy style cap from a German flyer found it both a good fit and comfortable and had his own version of it made up in khaki silk. He can be seen in photographs with this headgear although he doesn't wear it in 'official' photos.

The guy in the leather coat looks like Rommel. Could the guy on the left laughing be Kempf?
