British Losses 24 Aug 15
I have just obtained a post card showing German soldiers around the wreckage of a British aicraft and the date 24 Aug 15. Can anyone tell me if there were any losses that day?

Hello Chris,
No losses mentioned in The Sky Their Battlefield for 24 August 1915.
Do you know what aircraft is shown on the picture?

Pile of sticks though it may be, Sir, it might still be worth putting up for perusal: there are some sharp-eyed fellows around here, and someone could perhaps glean a helpful hint.

Will do just that when I get it in the post! I wonder if it crashed just before that date?

That is quite possible, Sir. The date could be when the picture was taken, or even when the thing was mailed.

Hello Chris,
Could be possible.
If the plane is a pile of wreckage, maybe this loss could match:
On 22 August 1915 BE2C (2034) of 2Sqn "fell like a stone" over Sainghem. Second Lieutenant G. Gallie and Second Lieutenant WM Wallace were KIA.

If this was on the German side of the lines, a possibility as there is very little left of the plane

Chris,
I don't know for sure. I couldn't find Sainghem on the map. But I think this name has changed into Sainghin. Sainghin is near Lille, so on the "German side".

Hi Chris
If we assume that the date is correct, which is however doubtful regarding most cases regarding postcards...
Then it might be a French a/c which was shot down in flames at Bolchen within German lines, crews KIA
Does it looks that it partly could have been on fire..?
Can you show the photo..?

Gunnar
