An obvious bias with WNW subjects
I guess it is not much of a secret to most everyone on this forum that there is a rather obvious trend in the releases that have occured and that are coming in the near future. All of the subjects are from British or German manufacturers.
I would surmise that alot of this has to do with the fact that several British and especially German aircraft had alot of common parts, such as power plants and machine guns that repeat themselves in kits and thus it is easier to release these subjects, especially in the early stages of the company's life, with as little lag time as possible between releases.
Nevertheless, does anyone have any thoughts or info on when, if ever they might do some other subjects, such as a Sikorsky Russian bomber, Austro-Hungarian, Italian, French or other such nationality subjects in the future?
I'm not complaining. What we have is great so far, but there sure is a lot of variety to be tapped into.

Eric,

Uh...I bet it has something to do with more people wanting German a Brit subjects, I bet the people who want a Fokker D.VII outnumber those who want a Sikorsky bomber more than 20 to 1.
Now French on the other hand? I can't explain that one. Perhaps it's because there are already a few good French 1/32 scale planes out there? You'll notice WNW hasn't done a Sopwith Camel yet? That's the best answer I can come up with.
But give them time

Parallel
I get the impression that there is a certain amount of parallelism between the full size machines they are building and the models produced. I suspect it makes it much easier to reduce full size plans to make kits from than develop the whole shootin' match from scratch.
As Blowhard pointed out, there's also a gap in the chain where there are already excellent kits that WNW might otherwise jump on. That's just good marketing strategy....
I'm very happy with what they've done so far and will be happy with whatever comes down the pike, German, Brit, whomever. The kits are enjoyable to build and unlike many I have built in the past, I have not found any opportunity to cuss at them unless it was self-inflicted....
Would I like to see a Phoenix D.II or some other interesting French (An AR or Salmson 2A2 perhaps), A-H, Russian or Italian (how about an SVA-5) kit ?
Sure, but I can't even build them as fast as they are making them now....

I recall in the Windsock article on WNW earlier this year that the Salmson 2A2 was in the works or at least CAD CAM drawings were being made for it.

A Salmson 2A2 in 1/32 would be epic....
Quite a few French types available already in 1/32 - possibly this explains the lack of these subjects on the WNW to-do list? There are injected 1/32 kits of Spad 13, Spad 7, Nieuport 17, 11, 16, 28 & Morane N all available, and though none are (IMHO) up to WNW quality, all are pretty reasonable. If I recall Roden has also committed to doing more Nieuport types?
Sure would like to see a Hanriot or a Macchi M5 in 1/32 though from WNW (or Roden or Special Hobby etc.)

I'm with Mike....I would love to see an S.V.A.5...that Venetian Lion would be smashing in 1/32. And how about a Macchi M.5. Considering that there are now two makers of the latter in 1 /48, perhaps it's marketable enough. And cripes...if they can do a Gotha, why not a Caproni?
I'll take mine with a side of spagehtti, prego.
How 'bout a Taub????
Wishful in NYC,
Michael

From acorns grow.....
Hold fast my plastic fondling friends. I feel sure WNW's are firmly in our corner and will be looking in on us and our wants for the future.
Happy days!
