Pegasus kits, whats worthy of re-issue?
Hi guys, I wanted some feedback on Pegasus kits now long out of production. Many have been surpassed by better injection moulded kits, but are there any you feel are worth upgrading revamping in resin?
Any guidance appreciated, since I have masters for many of the kits going back 25 years.

Hi Colin,
I know it's Blue Max, but a re-working of the Gunbus would be awesome. Maybe thinning the tail assembly, molding a resin fuel tank separately, a jig for the boom, etc. I have the original and love it, but it could use some work and I would absolutely buy another if it was reworked.
Cheers,
Bud
P.S.-Could you give us a hint as to when the Macchi M5 will be released?

thanks Bud. Well I'm working on a small revamp of the BM FB-5, it will include decals for the captured example in German markings, and will also have a new resin rudder and vickers machine gun since they apply to the early production machine. I had thought about the fuel tank, it seems odd that the Pegasus 1/72 one is seperate but the larger Blue Max one isn't. I also agree the tail surfaces are rather thick.
The Macchi is gaining momentum albeit slowly, I'm waiting for final decal art from Rowan, once I have it only then will I get printing slot from Fantasy Printshop, and last time we spoke it was a two month turnaround. Etch will be quicker, most detail parts will be resin which should mean a fighting chance for late September. My problem at the moment is I'm doing this full time, as was made redundant from my day job back in April (which was no bad think actually, I didn't like my job as much as this one but it paid a lot better!). I need to push the projects that bring the money in with the minimum of develpment, so the Gun Bus will probably be first. I also fancy doing a home defence single seat 504K this year, suitably modified with new decals.

I like the 504K idea, too, as will quite a few folks here. In a recent 'drome survey, it was determined that trainers are not as popular as combat aircraft (no s#@t), BUT a single seat, home defence 504K would be warmly and widely welcomed.

PEGASUS 1/72" Scale Kits.
Hello Colin,
Can you provide us with a list of viable molds for which aircraft?
I have most always found the later kits to be of top quality with what I believe to be accurate
representations of the wings and such, with the most delicate details.
Of course RODEN has come out with affordable kits in the Albatros D Series and Oefag Series,
but again a few upgrades would make it tempting.
The German "C" class are always welcome and I believe much sought after.
MAC has it's Phonix D types.
I imagine that your LVG Roland isn't one of your viable molds, but then again, MAC makes them, last that I looked.
I would have to check my list.
I know that your AIRCO D.H.4's are good.
I don't remember that you offered a Vickers Gun Bus in 1/72".
I'm trying not to say: "Oh yes, build them all for us!.
We will buy them."
I know that a number of builders are concentrating on 1/48" and now with so many offerings in 1/32", what is the Market for 1/72"?
I don't know.
I look forward to a list from you that we can give input on.
Cheers, Jay

In 1/48 and 1/72, I would recommend the Halberstadt DII and I would consider doing a resin Argus Engine so that it can also be issued as a DIII.

Pegasus re-issue potential
Hi Colin
I agree with Dave L about the Halberstadt D.II. A very worthy kit for re-issue.
I would also like to see the Albatros D.III re-issued as I believe it's a more buildable and better designed kit than the Roden offering. A few refinements and decal options and I think it would fill a gap.The now very old Revell D.III is not acceptable IMO - way too many inaccuracies to bother spending time fixing.
Thanks for the opportunity to offer an opinion.
Cheers
Syd

Gets my vote. Re-issuing the AW FK8 would also be a good idea I think, especially if the interior could be enhanced a bit. The only alternative to this fairly important machine is (AFAIK) the out-of-production Roseplane kit.

Another thought (my second this year), perhaps tweaking the Spad XII a bit? The top wing isn't too hot as it stands, and some representation of the control yoke would be nice. Again, there's no current competition, although it's also hard to see anyone buying multiples.
IMHO competing with Roden for with the Oeffag Albatrosses would be futile. IIRC wasn't there some size problems with the Pegasus kit's wings or fuselage? Must dig out the old Windsocks and check.
A simple update for the DH4 in wartime service would be the other undercarriage legs, and maybe PE seat harness. An improved Scarff ring would also be attractive. I'd certainly buy a couple at least.
I know you said re-issues rather than new kits, and I've no idea how popular it would be, but in any case I'm going to suggest a new tool for an Airco DH9.
Paul.
