I hope it is alright to post this question in this forum. I am planning on building Eduard's Camel as Brown's mount (I know not ANOTHER Brown Camel!) and was wondering how many photos exist of the aircraft. Any help will be much appreciated.
I've only seen one IIRC, but there may be others out there. I'll see if I can chase down the one I saw (some years ago) and post it if the Copyright Police don't catch me!
Probably so, but I can't quite get my head around the situation where a potentially public domain photo is included in a book that says, essentially, "All of this is copyright, so don't even think of using it!" Or words to that effect. Maybe it's just me...
Thanks everybody for the quick replies! I have seen only two on the net. One of them on earlyaeroplanes.com which shows the rear three-quarter starbord side with Brown standing in front. The other on billybishop.net which shows the same view but closer up with Roy Brown resting his arm on the plane.
One (in 'Sopwith Camel - King Of Combat' by Chaz Bowyer--page 66) is good for only cockpit details, but VERY careful perusal brings detail rewards.
The other (page 46 Windsock 'Camel Squadrons') gives a bit more----but really it is not at all a 'well documented' (photo. wise) aeroplane...
Cheers,
Dave.
Thanks for the research Dave. I have 'King of Combat' but I could not find a photo of Brown's Camel anywhere in the book just a picture of Brown standing in front of a building. I don't have the Windsock book so I will have to try and find that one. I did find a rather poor photo of Brown in front of his Camel in the Osprey book 'Sopwith Camel vs. Fokker Dr1'.
