Jasta Pilots Award And Victory
I'm looking for details of when and why Vizefeldwebel Fritz Megerle was Awarded the Wurttemburg Goldene Militar-Verdienstmedaille and was wondering if anyone has any information.
He seems to have been Awarded this medal on 5 June 1918 while serving in Jasta 70 but his Award document gives him as 'pilot Flieger - Abteilung 276, now Jagdstaffel 70' , so I'm presuming his Award was for service with FA 276.
Checking out 'The Jasta pilots' his first victory seems to have been pre Jasta 70 as his second victory on 2nd May was the Jasta's first victory (along with another pilots). So I'm thinking perhaps this Award is possibly for this victory although I can't find any details of when or what this victory was.
I know He was with FA 276 from ant least June 1917 as he was Awarded the pilots badge at this time, with this unit
'Aviation Awards of Imperial...' Doesn't mention him as getting this Award but reading some of the entries in this I can see that the medal was often Awarded for one specific act or a culmination of good work ending with a particular act.
Any help on this (or other info on him) would be most welcome as I have very little apart from details of his unfortunate death.
