While the dates match, Lt. Gerald Ellis Reynolds was probably not the other party in the Gaillard mid-air. Reynolds was living in Rutherford, NJ, but enlisted in Canada and served with Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry before joining 102 Squadron. Son of Charles S. and J. Ernestine Reynolds of Montreal. Wounded Sept 1916. Joined 102 Sq. 14 May 1918. Aged 23 at death.
The RAF Intel Summary only the Reynolds was killed, but also states Lt. G.P. Colin was wounded on this date. 102 Sq. had sent 4 FE-2's out that night on a reconn assignment and while the Intel Summary does not connect the mission and the casualties, it's likely these occured on this mission.
Neither in mentioned in Henshaw.
So is it possible Reynolds was involved ? Maybe. I don't know where 102 was stationed at the time, but were they even close enough to make this a possibility ?
I've scant little else on Reynolds to begin with and an additional info would be greatly appreciated.
See you in NJ, Bill !
