32squadron records

During my search for the combat records of 32 squadron in november 1917 My researcher in the UK at Kew found a lot of combat records one involving my father 2nd lt D.W.Lane.Popular beleif that they were involved in trench strafing was not true. However they were patrolling in the Paschendale and Holthurst Forest area. He was shot down and wounded on Nov 18 or 19th.The Combats in the Air form (Army form W.3348) onlyreports contact with the enemy and reports the detail of those contacts and whether any action was decicive or not.In none of these reports between 1st Nov to end nov was there any mention of pilots of thesquadron being lost.To my way of thinking there should be another form showing combat losses I do know the Squadron lost 5 pilots in nov. Can anyone advise me if there is a seperate form on combat losses and reports??/

Check Hobson (Airmen Died in the Great War), and Henshaw (The Sky Their Battlefield); both are reviewed in the Books section. Hobson gives only deaths, but from any cause. Henshaw gives only combat related casualties. You will have to go through the date lists in either book. Henshaw frequently gives details of the loss that are not found in Hobson. Hobson has full names, Henshaw has initials only.

Possibly there is also a 32 Sqn SRB, but I have not noted it in my references (yet -- if it is there).

Frank.
