Can some modelers out there tell me what would be the recommended paint colors (preferabbly MM) for the mauve/green/blue camo on the Albatros?
I heard Napeolinic violet for the muave is pretty good but what about the blue and green? I just want something out of the bottle and not a fancy mix since it's just for my enjoyment only.
Also is this underside blue the same on the Fokker DrI? For the DrI what is the interior color?
Thanks for any help!
Steve

Steve:
My question is, "Which Albatros? the D.III,D.V or D.VA and which builder, Albatros or OAW? Answer those questions and I'll give you the correct answer.

I assume then that there's a difference in the camo colors of a DV and DVa?

D.V - mauve/green upper wings and tailplane; light blue undersides.
D.Va - mauve/green upper wings and tailplane; light blue undersides on early machines, four or five color lozenge on later models.
Fuselages varnished plywood - some dark, some light. I think some of the later ones had gray fuselages.
That's whay I say. We'll see if DSA gives me an A.

Steve:
There is a difference between the thw camouflage patterns and colors. The Albatros Werke had their colors and patterns and OAW their's.
Albatros Werke.
D.V, Wings and tailplane: Mauve, this is a light greyish pink tinge with blue (It is not purple!) and Dark Green. Most common pattern, upper wing; mauve, dark green, mauve. Lower wings; dark green, mauve fuselage mauve, dark green.
tailplane, dark green, mauve, dark green. rudder , flat white.
The undersides of the wings and tailplane were sky blue.
The birch plywood of th fuselage, upper and lower fins was schellacked with yellow schellac and varnished. The spinner, cowlings wheel covers and struts were medium grey on early production and dark green on late production.
OAW built were covered for the most part with 5 color lozenge printed fabric.

Hello Steve!
The following firm is producing this colour for modellers:
H. G. Hannant Ltd.
Lowestoft
NR32 2AT
UK
They have called it GERMAN WW I TOPSIDE PURPLE
(no. X242), a small 14 ml pot.
Hope this helps!
Volker Nemsch
P.S. But who produces the corresponding green? Any names of similar greens?

I appreciate the camo pattern info but I might not have made my question clear. What I wanted to know was model paint equivelents, something close in either FS or RLM colors that I can use straight from the bottle like Volker mentioned.
Also, was the camo glossy? Did the varnished fuselage dull or did it retain its sheen?
Thanks again!
Steve
