Hi all !!

I'm currently working throught the 1915-1916 Communiques of the Royal Flying Corps (Christopher Cole) and would like to know if any of you guys can indicate how two-seater victories were credited. Would the same plane or balloon be credited to the pilot and the gunner/observer of the plane in which they brought it down or would it be credited only to the pilot or only to the gunner/observer.

Finally I also would like to know what the VB stands for in the abbreviation for a French Squadron VB109.

Many thanks

Regards

Gert

Hi Gert,

The victories were credited to the Pilot AND the observer in such cases. If you have don't have Above the War Fronts and are interested in such claims, get it.

As to the French abbreviation, sorry, no info.

Regards

Darryl

I would guess that VB stands for Voisin Bombardement.

My understanding is that any aircraft shot down by the observer was credited to both him and the pilot. However, any aircraft shot down by the pilot alone was only credited to the pilot.
