Jerry, as luck would have it I've had a go at this one myself. You are probably aware, although 244/18 is associated with LvR it was actualy allocated to Alois Heldman. Thus the monogram on the top wing. It was one of the very earliest machines delivered, and one of the few to bear the Cross Patee style of markings. Other early production characteristics include the un-louvred cowl and low set twin exhaust manifolds.
By the time LvR got hold of it 244/18 had been kicked around a bit and the upper cowling panels had been removed to assist cooling in the summer months. The right hand wheel cover had been removed (another seamingly common practice, though why is a mystery to me) and of course the markinkgs had been updated. LvR is known to have flown 244/18 on at least two occasions and is thought to have scored one victory on it.
