German oneseater pilots like Udet and von Schleich (comes only from my memory) destroyed tanks with MG-fire. Double seater crews like Schwertfeger/Günter and Kirschstein plus observer destroyed tanks as well. I have the following questions:
1) Are there other names of airmen known which were successfully fighting against tanks? 2) Did anybody ever hear about an attack of Allied fliers against German tanks (The Germans used some hundred captured Allied tanks and produced a very little number of own tanks)? 3) One source said the German double seaters dropped mines ("Wurfminen") against the tanks but did not specify or describe more precise the type of used ammonition. I have read that one Jasta 34 pilot(Greim ?) destroyed a tank in late August 1918 but cant find my source yet... I come back Gunnar |
