It's been quite awhile--has anyone heard anything allegedly authoritative about the Luke movie project? Also have heard that Norman Franks (one of the GOGS authors) is working on an FL book, or at least a book with major FL content.

1) Dunno beans about the film...

2) However, a major Luke TV documentary is on the table as we speak and I'm lucky enough to be knee-deep in it. That much is already known by a number of people. Not sure how much more I can say without checking with the producers first (I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you). If I can get permission, I'll give everyone the whole scoop. But in the meantime, trust me, there is a major Luke project in the works.

3) From sources within the Luke TV program, I hear that Franks may be working on a new text based on his earlier speculation that in his last flight Luke only fired in an effort to be captured more quickly, presumably for medical help. It is also supposed to have some basis in the testimony of a German soldier who was said to be on the scene. I can't confirm it and this is third hand information, so any additional info would be appreciated.

4) I've been hunting the long-lost Frey files, possibly the Holy Grail of Luke research, and finally found them. Copying them has, however, been another matter entirely. The caretakers have not been cooperative and the most reliable source of info on Luke's final fight remains elusive for the time being. But I ain't givin' up.

5) Very, very big news coming up very, very soon on Luke, involving nearly everyone who is anyone in the WWI aviation community, Luke family included. Stay tuned. Great War Aviation Memorial Committee members gonna be real happy.

Stephen:

That guy e-mailed me because of a blurb I left on Conover's "27th Pursuit Homepage" about the Luke memorial restoration project (yeah, I know...really OLD business).

Anyway, I sent him your way and hyped you as an authority (as I think you are). Glad to see that it worked out okay.

AHA! So you're the one! I clearly owe you many thanks. Feel like I can bring a lot to the table for this show and I'm anxious to start shooting. I owe ya one, Darryl.

There's a ton of Luke related stuff happening right now, and I'm anxious to hear if anyone knows anything of Franks' supposed interview with a German soldier who saw Luke's landing at Murvaux.

You guys got any dirt on this?

Da nada, Stephen. But I'm not Darryl. *LOL* No big deal. I knew you could fill the bill, so it was a slam-dunk!

And I DO hope that there is some sort of compensation in it for ya, bud!

I've written so many letters yesterday and today you're lucky I even got the gender right.

Anyway, Marvin, thank you again. And yes, for goodness sakes, I'm getting paid. This is what I do for a living believe it or not. I got the go ahead by the producer to tell all, and I'll do so in another thread as soon as I get home. In Atlanta on another shoot at the moment and must tally ho. Later!

*chuckle* Geeeze, Stephen...and I am one of your biggest fans! Nope, not Marvin. I think Killratio is Darryl...my given name is Bill.

Semper Fi, dude!

Yes, Darryl is Killratio. I suffer from acute brain fade and humbly apologize. Honest mistake.

No big deal, dude.

I am a small fish in a big pond, next to guys like you and Barrett. In any case, I was more than happy to help. I guess this is what the big guys call "networking!"
