Are there going to be any World War One films coming out soon?

Hi,

I recently saw a video on Siegfried Sassoon, the poet, more especially on the period of his so called 'breakdown' infact protest against the war.
Unfortunately I don't remember the title anymore.
Perhaps someone can help on it.
But a really good new movie ? Haven't heard anything around here. Hollywood is still the land that time forgot. Perhaps we should start writing scenario's ourselves ?

VBR from Johan

Stephen & Johan:

I've seen the movie about Siegfried Sassoon as well and it's very good. In Europe/Canada the title of the movie is Regeneration and in the U.S. the movie title is Behind the Lines. It was made in 1997 and it's out on video.

There has been talk of a Frank Luke movie as well as rumours of a Mick Mannock story screenplay floating around, but nothing has came to pass that I'm aware of. Maybe someone else out there is up-to-date regarding any F.L. and M.M. movies?

"Knights of The Sky" is a proposed film by Gerry Gacek of "High Octane Productions". The script is by a relative of Geo. C. Moseley. Moseley was one of the 26 who transfered from the French Air Service into the U.S. Navy. The character played by Clint Eastwood in Wellman's sadly inept "Lafayette Escadrille" was that of "Moseley". Oddly so, I thought because Moseley was never in the LE. Moseley's response to that film, according to Gacek, was not very flattering to director Wellman as he arose and excused himself half-way through the screening. Wellman spent the rest of his life apologizing for that film and he well should have! Wellman had significant time on SPADS with the French Air Service and for him to so completely bastardize the inspiring tale of the legendary LE is, accordingly, even more incomprehensible! BTW: Moseley wrote that he was able to enlist in the Foreign Legion for aviation training while in New York. Has anyone any information on how that was organized? M. gives no details concerning the specifics of locale or individuals involved in this act of Legion enlistment on this side of the ocean and I have always been curious. VBR: Lee

Half year ago, there were murmurings from a purported Hollywood agent type interested in Barrett's, Youthly's and my WIP, "Duel Over Douai".

Sadly, nothing further. The movie audience will just have to wait for that superb story. So far, Camels, Hansa-Brandenburgs, Brisfits,Albatrii, and Fok DVII are major players.

cheers, Boom

No, Not the same O'Shea as "Back To the Front" but I'm just interested in the same topic.
