German aircraft shot down 25 August 1914?

In the War Diary of 4th Royal Fusiliers, as they retreated from Mons on 25 August 1914, there is a comment that near Bermeries the battalion shot down an enemy plane using rifle fire. Is there evidence in German records that this happened?
Thanks
Mike
