If anyone has driven through the village of Carleton Place, Ontario, they have seen the home of not less than five WW1 aces. Even in 1950 the place only had about 4500 people, so I don't know what the population would have been in 1914, but I understand that some 15-16 boys from there joined the RNAS/RFC/RAF, and the following became aces:
Capt.S.T.Edwards,DSC (17 victories); Capt.A.R.Brown,DSC,(10); Maj.L.S.Breadner,DSC,(10); Capt.D.M.B.Galbraith,DSC,(6); and Capt.J.E.Drummond (6)
Although Brown is the best known for his connection with MvR's death (notice I didn't say for shooting him down), actually Breadner achieved the most. He retired as an Air Chief Marshall and CO of the RCAF Overseas in WW2.

Terry - Did you notice Maj. Breadner's descendant wrote in the Guest column asking for info ? I filled her in with all the info in Above the Trenches. If you have more you may want to drop here a line.

Best Wishes,

John G.
