German Jastas Opposite AEF Front Sectors 1918.

Hopefully this data will aid some of the members. Took a while to figure out.

German Jastas on the March-June 1918 AEF Toul Sector were: 64w, 65, 67.

German Jastas on the June-August 1918 AEF Chateau Thierry Sector were: 1, 2, 6, 9, 10, 11, 21s, 24s, 26, 27, 36, 41, 44s, 45, 48, 50, 53, 60, 61, 76b, 79b, 81.

German Jastas on the September-November 1918 AEF St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne Sector were:

German 5 Armee front were:
Gruja Nr. 1 - 8, 62, 68, 74 from 9-15-18 to Armistice.
Gruja Marville - 65, 67 from 9-16-18 to 10-7-18.
Jadgeschwader Nr.1 - 4, 6, 10, 11 from 9-28-18 to 10-8-18.
Jadgeschwader Nr.2 - 12, 13, 15, 19 from 9-28-18 to Armistice.

German Armee Abteilung "C" front were:
Gruja Simpelkamp - 64w, 65, 67.
Jadgeschwader Nr. 1 - 4, 6, 10, 11 from 10-9-18 to the Armistice.

German 19 Armee front were:
Gruja Nr. 9 - 3, 18, 54s, 77b, 80b, Kest 3 (Jasta 83) from 9-8-18 to the Armistice.

Other AEF USAS Units:
The AEF 17th and 148th Pursuit Squadrons operated on the BEF front under the operational control of the RAF 65th Wing (LtCol. Jack A. Cunningham) working with the Third British Army (Gen. Julian Byng) and the Fourth British Army (Gen. Sir Henry Rawlinson). Their German opposition units were attached to the Seventeenth German Armee under Gen. Otto von Below; and the Second German Armee under Gen. Georg von der Marwitz and later Gen. Adolph von Carlowitz. The two squadrons' personnel served on the BEF front from Spring, 1918 to their transfer to the American Toul Sector on October 31, 1918, and did not see combat on that Sector. The German Jastas, Schlastas and Army Support units changed so often and were so many on the BEF Front, that numerating them is far beyond my efforts. Good luck to those trying that search...

There were 192 German airfields facing the AEF Sectors and their locations are available with index in approximately 50 pages of maps, in H. Hugh Wynne's magnificent article: PROJECT AERODROMES, OVER THE FRONT journal Volume 6, Number 1, Spring, 1991.
Corrections and comments are welcome as research...
