Deperdussin controls & other ww1 yoke question

Hi all, I'm trying to better understand the Deperdussin style control and other similar ww1 yokes.

I have a basic understanding of the Deperdussin style racer control with the inverted U frame, but am not sure on the function on the button on the wheel (see photo below) - is this a blip switch?

Is anyone aware of any gun firing controls or bomb release controls on any ww1 yokes? I believe a number of the larger bombers like the Gothas in sea planes used yokes but have not seen photos which include any firing controls.

Thanks!

According to the following article, it's indeed a blip switch:

https://oldrhinebeck.org/wp-content/...ssin_racer.pdf

(The choice of a yoke as a control device is often the result of heavy control forces, which the Deperdussin Racer with its wing-warping control plausibly might have suffered from. The wheel gives the pilot the ability to use the full strength of both of his arms.)

Thanks Henning. Have you ever seen any other kind of trigger or firing button fitted to any other control wheel or yoke? I’ve seen Gotha wheels with instrumentation attached but that’s about it.

The 37mm Hotchkiss Cannon firing Spad 12 has a very similar set up , with inverted " U " frame , supporting a Control Wheel .

Hey, yeah but sadly there’s no photos of the firing system, just the wheel itself. The comic book series La Pilot a l’edelweiss has an imagined trigger strapped to the side of the wheel, but I can trace a photo for that configuration.
