English observer in French aircraft over Constantinople
Can anyone confirm this event which took place on Christmas Eve 1915 . Apparently a bombing raid was carried out by the French on Constantinople aiming for the Krupp's munitions factory.Damage was done but one plane was lost . The French pilot Captain Seron was captured while the British observer Lt Linter was killed.
I can't find either casualty in the usual places, in particular Linter , not a common name, the CWGC has no record of him. Did this event take place as described or is it a garbled story and "Linter" doesn't exist? |
