Throws a 96" prop with 63 pitch nice.

Looks like a nice replica. I wonder what the reduction unit is? Home made unit? I'm more interested in the silver 356 in the back ground.

The reduction unit looks like a Valley Engineering Reduction drive. The Valley redrive is a simple, solid, reliable drive. I had not seen the water-cooled VW previously. That could solve a number of problems for other folks. I wonder what the displacement on the "water boxer" looks like.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that they tapped the water jacket to provide carburetor heat. Valley employed the VW - tap the exhaust and always have heat around the carb solution.

Dh-2

About Ernies DH-2 build

I was the EAA Tech Counselor on the project. The amount of research and professional engineering that went into this project is just plain first class. The construction fits the same class.
Things that were changed were made for the better and safer use of the aeroplane. (ex: different aerofoil from original) The engine and reduction unit have been tested and refined many times over to come up with a safe and consistent use power unit.
Cheers

DH-2 price

I just checked the price on Barnstormers (47.5) and am surprised at the low price. You might be able to build it yourself for a little less, but the research and time (good luck on less than 3-4 years) will kill ya!. I agree with the "worthy individual" and the "fly the heck out of it" comment.
