Baracchini and the Paris Rome Air Race 1912?
I have read that this Italian Ace's enthusiasm to fly was encouraged by watching a part of the Paris-Rome Air Race 1912. He was a native of the Tuscan/Ligurian area and in 1912, aged sixteen he was possibly a student at the technical college of La Spezia, Liguria. I have found a Paris-Rome-Turin Air Race in 1911 but not one in 1912.
The famous fliers Garros and Vedrines took part in the 1911 race, the only Italian, Romolo Manissero (who'd got his pilots license weeks before the race) unfortunately had various engine failures before he reached Italy.
