Habsburg Wings 1915 Published

Today Aeronaut Books published Habsburg Wings 1915. Habsburg Wings 1915 is the story of Austro-Hungarian aviation in 1915 over Galicia and the Balkans. Noted historian Andrzej Olejko tells the story with 283 photos, 31 in color, and color profiles of 8 Austro-Hungarian aircraft in its 256 pages.

Andrzej plans to write additional volumes in this series about 1916, 1917, and 1918.

All the best,
Jack Herris

The research and efforts of Andrzej Olejko are not well known here in the West but let me assure all they are top shelf. I have his works in the original Polish and therefore I can attest to the quality and depth of his publications... I'm looking forward to seeing the other volumes come out in print by Aeronaut Books... kudos to all involved!

Hey there Jim! I'm not sure of the cost from Aeronaut Books direct is any less than from Amazon $49.99

I got a copy for xmas
The photo selection is very good Note some are not period. Good color profiles as well. There is a lot wrong with this book. There should have been more on Austrian air operations in 1915. there was stuff on the RFC with the BEF in 1914 in the west that had no place in this book. As for the translation and editing this book needs a lot of work:

page 58 "cannibis strategy page 62 cannibis maneuver could this be Cannae?
p 205 Soviet Air Force in 1915? and Tunstalla should be Tunstall
p207 Stepanova should be Stepanov unless the pilot is a female

p 170 repeated lines 3 times "these flights are not confirmed by F. Czernin von Chudenitz in his list based on SAW-KA Wien archive.

Rudolf Holeka on p 134 he is a Oblt and on p 135 he is a Hptm

and this is just some of them

How to date KUK aircraft
marking: white-red stripes 1914-1915 May 1915 iron crosses added to wings and tail April 1916 fuselage crosses added.
mg mounts socket mounts as on pages 82 and 177 mid 1915 ring mounts from Sep/oct 1915 retrofited by spring 1916

I looked at the front piece of the book here titled Hapsburg Wings. Don't understand how that can be as on Amazon it has the correct title spelling Habsburg Wings.
