Fliegerabteilung 220 (Artillerie) losses on 27 July 1917

On 27 July 1917 Russian fighters attacked a recce plane of the above unit and the observer, Obltn. Johannes Ponath was killed. On the same day another plane was damged and its observer, Ltn. Schuster was wounded seriously but his fate is not clear to me (and there is another aviation grave near Ponath's) Is there anyone who has some more info on Schuster and his fate?

Hi Csaba,

Fritz Schuster served in the Saxon Army. He was born in Föhrendorf, Rosenberg in Oberschlesien. During WW2 he served as Obstlt dR in Luftwaffe.

Schuster was a member of the Saxon FA 24 when badly wounded on 27 June 1917. His pilot during this fight was Bachem (later Jasta pilot). Three a/c of FA 24 were in combat with twelve Russian Nieuports long inside Russian lines. FA 24 claimed one Russian Nieuport brought down, but apparently not confirmed. The a/c of Bachem - Schuster was reported in "steilen Gleitflug zu niedergehen" so no report of crash or similar.
