Question What was the ammo loadout for an Albatros D.III?

The title says it all. Specifically, how many rounds did the Albatros D.III carry in total? Per gun?

Arrow The usual...

.
... ammo load of the Albatros D.III (as well as all other Albatros D-type fighters) was 500 rounds per gun.

Since two guns were mounted, the pilot had 1,000 rounds available when he started and it was quite a load for these early aircraft.

One round weighed about 27 g, bringing the total weight of the ammo to a surprising 27 kg (nearly 60 pounds) + belts.

Hope this answeres your question...
