What is the "fork" on some plane's struts?

Hello everyone!

Me and a few friends were wondering what is called and what is the function of this metal "fork" on some aircrafts (mostly british apparently).

I've attached an image showing one on a Bristol F2B Fighter (on the low left, forward and closest strut to our point of view).

What could it be?
I discarded the possibility of being related to radio or static electricity, but I'm only speculating.

Cordially,

Federinz

It was officially called at that time a Pressure Head (aka pitot static tube). It is used to differentiate air pressure and runs the Air Speed Indicator on the instrument panel.

Fascinating, thank you very much!
I would never have guessed, though I knew this kind of device was used
(could not imagine how).
