Plane landing in German lines 16 May 1918
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for additional information on a photo taken on May 16th 1918 shown here.
I can read "Xonville den 18. 5. 1918. Zur erinnerung an xx bei Hagéville gelandeten xx flieger(?) am 16. 5. 1918. xx xx xx"
If the location is correct, we are behind the German lines of the Saint-Mihiel salient four months before the September assault.
Any information on the type of plane, unit of origin, pilot name or more would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Expanding on what Mike has posted, 2nd-Lieut David Stewart Anderson (Pow) & 20379 2/AM Hugh O'Connor (Pow), 100 Sqn, FE2b B498 - took off at 17:50/18:50 then missing after leaving Villeseneux to change location to Ochey.

The aircraft was from a batch of 100 numbered B401 to B500, built by Ransome, Sims & Jeffries, Ipswich.
Cheers,
Tony

Hello all,
I think the following is written:
Zur Erinnerung an eine bei Hagéville gelandeten amerikanischen Flieger am 16-05-1918.
(Höhensteuer defekt).
In memory of an American plane that landed near Hagéville on May 16, 1918.
(Elevator defect).
Regards,
Jos

Hi Everyone,
Many thanks for the precious contributions.
I could find that the RAF 100th Sqn was relocated to Ochey on 4 March 1918. Does that mean that the plane was new from factory and heading to the front for its first time on 15 May 1918 (Villeseneux being located near Châlons-en-Champagne)? They could have lost track of their location, heading too far North and then a problem on the elevator could explain their landing too far East behind German lines.
All the best,
Samuel
