Ltn.d.R. Karl Jerratsch
In Graeme's "100 Years Ago" thread for 24 October 1918, I posted that Ltn Jerratsch had died of wounds in a Dusseldorf hospital. This information was gleaned from the usual sources, these being COTGAS, TJP, JWC, etc.
A short while ago, a Forum contributor in Germany contacted me to advise that this was incorrect and that the cause of death was actually Spanish Flu. He gave his source as a newspaper death notice that he had read.
A quick online scan of Verlustliste shows the notation "infolge Krankheit", or "as a result of illness".
I also note a Forum post from 26 September 2002 which indicates that Jerratsch was a victim of that pandemic.
Accordingly, I am adding a note to my files to reflect this information and hope that anyone with further knowledge will share it with The Forum.
Cheers,
Tony
