MvR’s 29th victim

Last year, my first book was published. ‘Fire-Step to Fokker Fodder’ is based on the diaries of William ‘Jack’ Lidsey, the observer in BE2f A3154 when von Richthofen shot it down on 21 March 1917. Lidsey died of his wounds the next day; his pilot, Flt Sgt Sid Quicke, was killed during the combat.

I commissioned aviation artist Ian Garstka to capture the scene on that fateful afternoon...FC2A0BCA-DAC1-43BC-9140-140FEF056CB9.jpg
