25th Aero Squadron photo

Hello,
I’m trying to locate a higher quality version of a picture taken of the 25th Aero squadron. I’ve attached a copy of the picture I’m trying to locate. I want a higher quality version of this picture. Any assistance finding this picture is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

Hello Phil,
I have a fairly sharp scan of this photo. What is it you're interested in most? The people, the Fokker D.VII F 7744/18, or the SE5a?? I have a few others of the same Fokker at the same location, from the Ray Watts albums.

Send me a PM if you like, and I can send you a high-res file of the first photo. It may be good enough for your purposes.??

Greg

Greg,
I will PM you my email address if you can send me a high res image of the first picture? Thanks very much for your help. I recently acquired a lozenge fabric piece that was brought back from the war by a member of the 25th Aero squadron. I will never know for certain but I would bet it’s from one of the DVIIs in the 25th Aero squadron pics you have. I want to use the first pic to display with the lozenge fabric and note from David Lewis.

Thanks,
Phil

A nice piece! I see it was formerly in the Jack Eder collection. Does anyone know if he's still around?

Adam -

Jack is still wit us. I ran into him a few months ago. He's still collecting, selling and generally staying out of trouble :-)

Hi,

Thanks for that bit of news. I met Jack at an RFC/RNAS/RAF reunion in Ottawa in 1985. We corresponded for a few years after that.

He was/is a bit of a character. I'm attaching a photo of I took of him at a technical museum in Ottawa. I can't remember the name of the museum. I only know that it was not NAM Rockcliffe or the Canadian War Museum.

The photo quality is horrible, as I took it with a cheap pocket camera. The disposable flash bar I plugged into the Kodak Instamatic camera did not illuminate the scene well enough for the little plastic lens. By the time of the next reunion in 1986 I had a proper camera, a Canon AE-1. I still have it.

As poor as the photo quality may be, I think it still captures Jack's personality rather well.
