Pfalz DIIIa 8043/17 colours

Dear Pfalz experts,

I am starting to make a small flying Pfalz DIIIa model and am looking at colour schemes. I notice two photos of crashed 8043/17 on the wingnut wings website on the 2nd to last row.

http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/produ...id=3002&cat=1#

The plane features what apears to me to be factory silver grey with coloured nose, struts and empenage. I notice the late crosses on all visible locations apart from the lower starboard wing which still has the earlier version. A replacement part perhaps?

I will appreciate any details of the colours and unit.

Cheers

Tim

Arrow Some bits of information...

.
In connection with Pfalz D.IIIa D.8043/17 on the 2 photos I can only tell you, that it was one machine of a large batch of 340 aircraft (D.8000/17 to D.8339/17) and that the aircraft was delivered in the standard colour scheme of the Pfalz D.IIIa, including the "old style" of German markings (without white surrounding, a "Pfalz speciality") as they were used before April 1918.

When you are asking me for details in connection with the unit, it is not an easy task since there were 433 machines of the Pfalz D.IIIa variant listed in the "Frontbestandsliste" on 30.04.1918.

Thanks for your reply Volker. I like the quirkiness of the mix of cross styles as an interesting subject for a model.
