Le Marquis Barny de Romanet

Did Barny de Romanet succeed to his title as Marquis on the death of his father or was it conferred on him by a grateful government post-war? I can't see a mention of the title in the family information I have. His second-in-command in SPA167 states he came from nobility but I can't see his father or grandfather using the title. regards Keith |
