The ESCADRILLE COLLECTION: For the Young, the Suave etc.

Courtesy of PLAYBOY, April 1974:

I dig the Nieuport 28 (?)

I dig the model

I even dig the tie with the little balloons

but I don't dig the checks on that suit....

I think that's Rhinebeck's original Sopwith Camel in the background. The Rhinebeck aeroplanes appeared in a lot of ads over the years.

No checkered suits here (and don't we know that 1917 Escadrille pilots wore an "exclusive blend of dacron, polyester and wool"?), but this ad for the 1973 Chevelle Malibu is almost contemporary with the Escadrille collection ad, and was also photographed at Old Rhinebeck. It features some of Rhinebeck's classic original aircraft and a nice plug for the Aerodrome, "90 miles north of New York City". This came from Field and Stream of October 1972 - no Playboys allowed in my home! (And yes, I never throw anything away.)
