Hello there Gentlemen,
the last thread in my long series of Nieuport threads is about a very odd type: Personally, I think the
Nieuport 17B is not real but rather a misnomer for other types. But if it's a real distinct type it's a Nieuport 21 without tapered cowling, without cooling slots on the lower starboard cowling and without a tall oval starboard carb access panel.
These guys are supposed to have scored in that type:
- CR Mackenzie 7Sep1916 & 4Dec1916 (probably Nieuport 11 or 21)
- RJO Compston 26Dec1916 (probably Nieuport 11 or 21)
- LH Irving 6Aug1916 (probably Nieuport 11 or 21)
- GV Leather 22Oct1916 (probably Nieuport 21)
- JJ Petre 21Oct1916 (probably Nieuport 11 or 21)
- GG Simpson 4Dec1916 (probably Nieuport 21)
Cheers,
Michael
