Paint stripping comparison Fokker with Pfalz
Not being technically minded could someone with more expertise explain why on the Fokker DII, DIII and (where painted) EIV the paint gets stripped aft of the lower cowling by the exhaust debris. Yet on the Pfalz EI - EIV the black paint seems (in the pictures I have seen) at worst to only get dirty appearing to be relatively easy for the ground crews to clean. All the planes seem to use Oberursel engines and presumably the same fuel and oil. The only explanation I can come up with is the quality of paint used on the Pfalz.
