… aircraft of the Fokker company is the Fokker D.V.

During the second half of 1916 Fokker had serious problems to develop an own up-to-date fighter. The Fokker D.I to D.VI were no success and showed poor performance compared to the newest machines of the enemy.

The Fokker D.V was more promising and three orders were signed (D.2600/16 – D.2799/16, a batch of 200 machines, ordered in October 1916, D.650/17 – D.699/17, a batch of 50 machines, ordered in February 1917 and at least D.1600/17 – D.1649/17, a batch of 50 machines, ordered in April 1917).

But in early 1917 it became clear that the contemporary Albatros fighters were much better and so not all of the 300 ordered machines were delivered. The type saw only limited service and most machines were sent to fighter training schools.
