…often forgotten aircraft is the German Pfalz D.VII / Pfalz D.VIII of 1918. After the first fighter competition in February 1918 a contract was signed (serial number 100/18 to 219/18) to produce 120 machines of the Pfalz D.VIII, since the two-bays version of this fighter offered more structural stability during dogfights. The Pfalz D.VII showed a slightly better performance, but the more robust machine was chosen. The Pfalz D.VIII was mentioned in the "Frontbestandsliste" in June (14 machines) and August 1918 (19 machines) – so they were operationally used between mid-1918 and the end of the war.
