Combat report "Luftkampfbericht" Udet 29.9.1918

I had the chance to copy a larger amount of german ww1 documents. There were many documents about fights and performance reports.

I wanted to show today that a lot was written down, my attitude is always to verify something and to speculate less.

I copied the original report word by word so you can read it better.

Maybe it's interesting for you.

Interesting report of Udet's last confirmed victory, and quite the list of witnesses.

I have a lot of other Udet reports, also about the test flights with the Fokker E.III / 160 HP, installed was a new technic for the machine gun.

The CR above of Udet is found in his book "Mein Fliegerleben" (plus a page of seven eyewitnesses). Would be nice to see a snippet of another CR…

Obral, I know the book, but I don't never publish material out of published books.
You have the chance to publish here the other combat reports, no problem, if you want.

The background looks like a moiree build of a rasterized image, as the CR in the Udet book is…

The English translations of the CR & witness reports are in the English translation of Udet's book titled 'Ace of the Iron Cross'.

Of course it is always worth keeping things in perspective in regards Udet's final triumph; seven Independent Force 99 Sqn DH9's attacked by 30-40 EA near Metz. I guess there were a lot of witness statements as I make it there were 12 'confirmed' victory credits for the 5 missing and two shot up DH9's - Js 3, Js 4, Js 10, Js 11, Js 13, Js 15 & Js 77 all look to have been involved - yep most certainly a classic battle against the odds. Not all triumph however, as Udet of course was wounded & FTL and we also know Js 77's Vfw Moosbacher was wia (burnt).
