… performance data needed.
I stumbled across the following drawing of an aircraft with the serial number “D.2405/17”.
After checking my sources it became clear that the serial number should have been “D.2405/16” and this serial number was allocated to a single-seat fighter Friedrichshafen D.I. Other sources mentioned, that 3 machines were build in 1917 but the only allocated serial number was D.2405/16.
Here is what I found:
Wingspan: 9.04 m
Length: 6.45 m
Height: 2.90 m
Wing surface: 22.7 m³
Engine: 1 x 160 hp Mercedes D.III
Crew: 1 pilot
Armament: 1 machine gun (a drawing shows 2 guns, buried in the fuselage)
Empty weight: 665 kg (plus 80 kg pilot, 63 kg fuel, 93 kg "mil." load)
Max. weight: 901 kg
There is no mention of any performance data. So my question is, what else is known about this fighter. There also existed a version of this aircraft built for the Imperial Navy (2 floats similar to the Albatros W.4) and called Friedrichshafen FF 43). In this case several performance data are mentioned.
Who knows more?
