Arrow According to...

.
... the German system of aircraft designations, "E451" makes no sense. Maybe the censors did a bit more than just retouching details.

But you may try "B.451/14" or "B.451/15" , although I don't know if these serial numbers will fit to a specific aircraft built by Aviatik...

And, dear PFFF, you can try to find out, if the biplane really was built by Aviatik - maybe there was another company?

The Taube looks like its engine is a Mercedes D.I. Is that correct? Ransom

Arrow I have doubts...

.
... that the Germans still used older versions of the "Taube" with 4-cylinder engines along the front in France - so the 6-cylinder Mercedes D.I would have been the choice to give the already outdated aircraft (a design of 1910/11) a bit more urgently needed performance.

Unfortunately I can't see enough details to say more about the engine type of the captured aircraft, because the oval exhaust manifold conceals further details. So it is not more than a guess...

Arrow Dear PFFF...

.
... check the serial numbers I mentioned and the valuable hints other Forumites shared. You'll find some surprising results...

Asking (unspecified) questions is easy - giving (helpful) answers isn't...

Talking The "Aviatik" on the photo…

.
… is no Aviatik at all.

It is a DFW B.I and there also existed such a machine with the serial number B.451/14. Below you’ll find another good picture of this aircraft as well as some more information about the type:

Old errors are still errors…
