Capt W A Bishop, 60 Sqn, Albatros Scout broke up Drocourt - La Bassée at 11:30/12:30 - Captain W A Bishop, 60 Squadron, attacked an EA which fell out of control and broke to pieces before crashing

Bishop would claim he attacked 4 EA scouts at 14,000ft - the rear EA supposedly turning to meet his attack, '.. I fired at him from 100 yard range and my tracers seemed to hit his engine. The EA put his nose down turning sharply. I turned a moment later and saw EA 800 feet under me. Both of his left hand planes having come off, he was falling vertically. I then climbed through clouds and flew home.'
His CR has the annotation by Capt HW Grey, 'Capt Bishop was again by himself'.
One would have to think a German Albatros scout loosing both its left hand planes at 14,000ft would have to be fatal - but there is no fatality in the somewhat complete German records of their fatal losses.
Going on location, the EA would most likely have to have been from Jasta 30 - who operated between Lens & Lille out of Phalemphin aerodrome.
Again an amazing turn around, as Capt Bishop's efforts in front of others on 26 June were undistinguished. An ineffective attack on a 2-seater with Lt's Rutherford and Soden, followed by an indecisive attack on a single scout in company with Capt Caldwell at 1115 over Rouvroy (just over the lines)

Just another of Billy's Solo efforts!
No witness & no fatality!
No way could a German Pilot Survive loosing two wings at that altitude!
Come on the BB believers. How do you explain this one?

While I agree with everything you said, Barry, what's the point of saying it? Russ already posted the facts, after that everything is just name calling and finger pointing. Let's get on with the war, The Big One not the flame-war.
