Its my birthday and I'll comment if I want to, comment if I want to.....

The 20 Sqn vs Js 8 affair entailed a 6 strong photo mission tasked with photo of bomb damage Courtrai. Crew of A1951 later reported they were rear machine and had been attacked by 10 HA. 2Lt W Jourdan was pilot to Lt Stead.

Capt AP Daly had been leader of 4 strong 32 Sqn OP which was engaged by 5 HA. Daly's engine shot up and FTL. Daly apparently had lunch with Jasta B pilots.

Also for 32 Sqn - Capt WW Jones & 2Lt CE Pickthorne attacked and silenced a mobile AA Bty.

Elliot of 1 Wing RNAS (soon 3 Naval) was with another pilot when engaged by 4 machines of SFS I.

In regards the 'flamer' accorded to Dallas; he fired 50 rds at 50 yds and HA went down in spinning nose dive emitting five bursts of white smoke. He lost sight of HA at 5,000ft. Later he observed what appeared to be a machine on the ground NE Dixmude.

FAA 213 reported Ltn Patheiger kia in airfight over Polygon Wood (too far south to reflect either of the Naval 2-seater claims or those of Belgian 1eme.

Cheers Russ LXII

From JWC:

Claims:

Vfw F Manschott, Js7, a Farman, N Esnes at 1425hrs, fourth victory.

Re Elliott POW, JWC attributes his loss to Meyer as Russ points out above.

Losses: Shown as nil despite the Dallas claim above.

Cheers,
Tony

P.S. Happy Birthday LXII. Wish I could remember back to when I was that young.

"Capt C M Carvert" is of course Charles Molyneaux Carbert a Canadian. He is listed in some records as Carvert but his casualty card and the records on the various Canadian memorial sites list him as Carbert.
